|The Tower of Babel platform aims to investigate the favourite destinations from all over the world. It is owned by APTUR, a leading Portuguese NGO in the area of tourism research and promotion that organizes the ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival. By agreement between APTUR and GiTUR (Tourism Research Unit of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal), this latter manages the Network of Tourism Experts responsible for carrying out this research on Favourite Destinations at worldwide level. This study is also supported by EATSA – Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association. The individual members responsible for the Tower of Babel project are presented below.|
|Francisco Dias (email address: firstname.lastname@example.org)Francisco holds a PhD degree in Tourism Science from the University of Perpignan, France. He is Associate Professor of the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology at IPLeiria – the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal), and member of GITUR – Tourism Research Unit of IPLeiria. As Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation, he has contributed to the improvement of tourism research networking. As visiting professor, he collaborates in the post-graduation in Branding & Business at the University College of UNIVATES, in Lajeado, Brazil. He is also director of the International Tourism Film Festival, and chairman of the International Conference on Cinema and Tourism. His research interests are vast, ranging from the field of tourism branding and film tourism to research methodology and epistemology of tourism sciences. He is the Chair of the Founding Committee of the EATSA – Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association.|

PhD degree in Management Science from the IAE (Business School) at the University of Burgundy, Dijon, France. She has a Master’s Degree in Tourism Management from the CEDERS (Economics Departments, Institutes and Research Centers in the World) at the University of Aix-en-Provence in France. She is an Associate Professor in the University of Burgundy. She was Vice-President of the University of Burgundy, delegated to the continuing education and professional education for adults. She was also official representative for the education authority of Burgundy. From 1990 to 1999 she was Studies Manager at the Chamber of Commerce of Dijon in charge of economic observatory and marketing surveys. Her research interests and publications are in the field of consumer behavior in tourism; sport tourism; social representation and brand.
|Antonio Magliulo (Italy)
Full Professor of History of Economic Thought and Professor of Tourism Economics at the Rome University of International Studies. He is Dean of the Faculty of Economics and takes part in the Editorial Board of “Rivista di scienze del turismo” and “History of economic thought and policy”. He is member of the Italian Society for Tourism Sciences (SISTUR) and of the Academic Committee of the Network of European Regions for a Sustainable and Competitive Tourism (NECSTouR). He is also member of the Italian Association for History of Economic Thought (AISPE), and of European Society for the History of Economic Thought (ESHET). He has participated in several National Research Projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research in the fields of history of economics and economics of tourism. Antonio is also member of the Referee Board of the European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation.
|Autthapon Sirivejjabhandu (Thailand)
Autthapon Sirivejjabhandu is currently a lecturer of Tourism and Hotel Department, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountant at Sisaket Rajabhat University (Thailand). He is graduated in History and has a Master’s degree in Parks and Recreation. He holds a Ph.D. in Integral Development Studies with the thesis “Poverty Alleviation through Community-based Ecotourism in the Trans-boundary Protected Areas: The Emerald Triangle Perspective”. His research interests cover the following domains: Southeast Asia Studies, Pro-Poor Tourism, Cross-Cultural Tourism Behaviour, and Community-based Ecotourism.

|Emese Panyik (Hungary)
Emese holds a PhD and is an assistant professor of tourism at the Catholic University of Portugal, Braga Regional Centre and member of Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy Research Unit (GOVCOPP) of the University of Aveiro, Portugal. She graduated from Geography and Political Sciences and earned her MA in tourism management at the University of Pécs, Hungary. She completed her PhD in tourism management at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in the area of local governance. She is author of various papers in international scientific journals and book chapters and co-editor of two recently published books on European tourism planning and organisation. She is reviewer for highly ranked scientific journals including Tourism Management and has been member of the organising and scientific committee of various international conferences. Her research interests include: strategic tourism planning, rural governance, EU tourism policy and local policymaking.

|Francisco Orgaz Agüera (Dominican Republic)Francisco Orgaz Agüera holds a Ph.D in Tourism (Seville University), Master in Tourism Management and Planning (Seville University) and Degree in Tourism (Cordoba University, Spain). Francisco Orgaz is Executive Director of the Vice-Rector for Research and Graduate Studies at the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA) and professor in Business Administration, Environment and Tourism. Prof. Orgaz is Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of World of Tourism. Francisco Orgaz has participated in several research projects in Spain and the Caribbean, as well as at international conferences. Hirofumi Miyagi is a Associate Professor of the School of Business Administration at the Osaka University of Commerce (Japan), and also researcher at the Institute of General Industrial Research, Okinawa International University (Japan). |Ineta Luka (Latvia)
Ineta Luka, Dr.paed., professor, head of the Language Department at Turiba University, Latvia; an expert in pedagogy of Latvian Council of Science; a representative of Turiba University in University Network of European Cultural Capitals (UNeECC); a research member of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Education and Research Hub for Lifelong Learning, Network 4. Her doctor’s Thesis is in the field of higher tourism education, the author of two monographs related with tourism education, the co-author of three books, the author and co-author of 54 scientific papers, has presented in numerous international scientific conferences and participated in international research projects. Research areas: higher tourism education, development of employability skills, intercultural and language competence, quality of higher education, lifelong learning.
|Jean Max Tavares (Brazil)Ph.D in Economics – Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2008). Posdoctoral in Economics (Field: Tourism Economics) – Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2012). Professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica – State of Minas Gerais – Belo Horizonte City / Brazil. He have over 20 academic publications (refereed journal articles, books, conference presentations); 18 articles in refereed journals, 4 of them as single author and 14 as lead author. Of the above 18 articles, all are in top tier journals in the CAPES system of Brazilian Government; 4 of them are in Argentina, Portugal, England and Spain journals. Joanna holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Science with a specialization in Economics. She has been a teacher and researcher at the Department of Tourism Economics and Organisation of the Poznan University School of Physical Education and the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz. She is a member of the Advisory Board – European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation (www.ejthr.com) and member of the GITUR – International Tourism Research Unit, Peniche, Portugal. She was the chairperson of the International Conference of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation 2014 (EJTHR 2014) that took place in Poznan (Poland), on 19th -21st May 2014. Her basic interests in tourism research encompass tourism economics, regional development and the development of rural areas.

João is graduated in Geography and has a Master’s degree in Land Management and Environmental Planning. He has a PhD in Environment from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology from the New University of Lisbon (Portugal). João has been a Lecturer at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technologies from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria since 2006, in the field of Tourism, Geography and Environment. He is the Coordinator of the Tourism Research Group (GITUR) from Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. He is also the Executive Editor of the European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation.

Kevser is an instructor and PhD candidate in Tourism Management at the Faculty of Tourism of Necmettin Erbakan University in Konya, Turkey. She graduated from Middle East Technical University in 2003. Then, she worked in public and private schools as a teacher for 7 years. She has been also working as International Projects Coordinator for 8 years. She has taken part in several different International and Erasmus Projects, gained a good understanding of what is required of a project researcher and coordinator both in Turkey and in Europe. She is experienced enough writing, coordinating and implementing project activities. She has worked on more than 15 international projects so far, and now she is working as the responsible person of the on-going EU projects such as LDV–SCOUT Project entitled ‘Destination Manager for Small Capital Of Culture’, and ‘Start-up Communities’ She is also taking part as a researcher, organizer and speaker in several national and international activities and conferences. Her project topics deal with Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Tourism and Curriculum Development. She has published some papers on innovation behaviours and perceptions in the Turkish Hotel Industry and development of tourism awareness in public schools. She is also the language editor of International Journal of Education.

MADHURI SAWANT is an Assistant Professor & Coordinator (Research and Consultancy) at the Department of Tourism Administration, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (MS), India. A post graduate in Tourism Administration (MTA) and Ph.D (Tourism). She also holds PG Diplomas in Business Management, German Language and Environmental Studies.Her principle research interests are Marketing , CSR, Socio-Economic Aspects and Heritage Tourism Management and has completed 05 Major research projects sponsored by University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) and Ministry of Tourism Government of India. She has over 25 publications including 04 books and 26 referred journal articles and book chapters to her credit and has organized one International and 03 National Seminars /Conferences/Workshops. |Marica Mazurek (Slovakia)
Marica is currently affiliated with Matej Bel University, in Slovakia and completing her PhD and research partially in Slovakia and in Canada (fall 2015). She participated in several academic exchanges and Visitor Professorship activities in Canada (Brock University, University of Waterloo), where she participated in research activities dealing with tourism marketing and branding, innovations and tourism destinations competitiveness. She is the author of several academic publications. Mirko Perano holds double Ph.D degree in “Corporate Management and Finance” (at University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy) and in “Economics and Management of SMEs” (at University of Huelva, Spain). He was Professor of Strategic Management (Department of Business Study and Research – AY 12-13) and of Management (Department of Industrial Engineering) at University of Salerno; he is Professor of Management at Reald University of Vlora (Albania) and member of Academic Senate. He is Secretary of “Enlightening Tourism: A Pathmaking Journal (ET)” ISSN: 2174-548X. Dr. Mirko Perano is member of research group GEIDETUR n. SEJ 437 (Innovation and Development Strategies in Tourist Firms) and of various research group (for research funded by Italian Ministry of Education) at University of Salerno since 2006 on the field of management and tourism. He is consultant in the field of internationalization for companies operating in Africa, inter alia, in Nigeria and now is a CEO of Italian Joint Stock Company. |Prakash Chandra Neupane (Nepal)
He has been more focused and committed in the field of Tourism related research activities in both his own country and abroad. He holds Master Degree in management from his home country (Tribhuvan University), and an Australian MBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management in the year 2012 (South London College, UK). He seems very much determined to ensure his career as a promising researcher in the days ahead. Tourism and its various aspects like ecotourism, sustainable tourism, responsible tourism, community based tourism, religious and cultural tourism, home staying tourism, cost effective event management for sustainable tourism are his broader fields of research interests. On top of these, he is interested in creating and being create involved into a network of researchers and scholars to gain and share the research knowledge skills and experiences.

Stanislav is currently a Professor and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Research at International University College in Dobrich, Bulgaria. He holds a PhD degree in tourism economics from the University of Economics – Varna. Dr. Ivanov is the Editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Tourism Research (http://ejtr.vumk.eu) and serves in the Editorial boards of 20 other journals. His research interests include destination marketing, tourism and economic growth, political issues in tourism, special interest tourism. |Yanki Hartijasti (Indonesia)
Yank is senior lecturer in Master of Management Program, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia. She earned an MBA degree from University of the Philippines. She also obtained Master of Science and Doctor in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Universitas Indonesia. Her professional experiences include career advancing up to position of Sub-Branch Manager in a bank, Training and Development Manager in a property and real estate company, Senior Consultant in consulting company, and Human Resources Division Head in a life insurance company. After gaining fifteen years of experiences in various industries, she then decided to take the plunge into the academic world since 2001. She has been invited as visiting professor in several graduate schools, such as University of Tsukuba (Tokyo) and Asian Institute of Management (Manila) to teach HRM in Asia and Indonesian Leadership from Cultural Perspectives. Her research interests are Asian leadership, multi-generational leadership, organizational culture, change management, human behavior in organization including cyber behavior, and human resources management.
